Harker walked into the den of Charles September and saw the tiny man pacing the floor on the right side of the room.
Meanwhile, Roland Kelp stood motionless against the wall on the left side of the room.
“I figured you’d keep the front door open for me.” Both Britt’s tone and words were clipped as he spoke to the short person.
“The situation that we hired you for is officially closed, Harker.” The tiny man bounced another small wad of bills in one hand while he twirled a jack knife in the other, executing a circular motion with the blade.
“I’d rather like some answers, if you don’t mind.” Harker ‘s mind was on a whole different place of origin that trying to end this case.
